C Dorm- Third Term Report

We yet again draw near to the end of another eventful term at the college. Looking back over the past few weeks, as dorm cops we feel a lot has been achieved by the boys in a term that is normally less eventful. On the sports fields, we experienced the last few games of the winter sport season up to the half term and the beginning of their own sports of choice (tennis, soccer, golf, athletics etc). Some individual performances worth mentioning include the inclusion of Michael Haynes and Stephan Maritz in the u15 waterpolo team to tour to Cape Town in the Holidays. Michael Haynes was also selected for the KZN u14 waterpolo team, a sterling performance by the young surgeon. Some other noticeable performances by McGregor Stone, Chris Ellis and Mosala Mokete of the mighty u14 C rugby team who remained undefeated throughout the season. Some members of the dorm also took part in the many inter house events.

Culturally, David De Gruchy achieved his grade five piano and was also involved in the jazz band which performed in various concerts (Nice August). Mike Haynes was also involved in the choir Olympics team which achieved a silver medal in one of their categories. Michael Grinaker was involved in the Choir Paralympics held in Andorra where he received a participation certificate. Keep practicing Mike! Stephan Maritz and Chris Wood dominated the debating scene.

Academically Marlowe Brett, Mathew Addison, Tim Fainsinger, Feargus Kelly and Casper Badenhorst impressed the staff with their diligence and were rewarded with commendations. Mike Dunton, McGregor Stone, Chris Wood and Stephan Maritz all managed to successfully acquire a mind blowing 80% average. Notably Stephan Maritz came third in the grade.

As C dorm cops we thank the boys for an awesome year and we wish them all the best for the rest of their Hilton career. This being our last report, we say farewell to the fans. You stay classy San Diego….
